Cover camera with small piece of black electrical tape. That kills two birds with one stone. Won't see the crescent any more. And even if NSA, police, FBI, or independent hacker turns on your camera remotely, all they see is black.DAMNIT PEOPLE. I got my iPhone 6 on release weekend a year and a half ago and I would never have known about this "defect" if ya'll hadn't pointed it out. Now I'll see it all the time.
It doesn't seem to impact operation so I'll probably get over it.. but... why did I have to read this post??
Or just carry your phone in a faraday cage/RFID blocking bag 24/7. Problem solved.Cover camera with small piece of black electrical tape. That kills two birds with one stone. If those organizations are going to go through the trouble of enabling your iPhone camera without your knowledge, then I"m pretty sure they have the money, resources and probable cause to spy on you from a distance if you cover your camera. If you're on their radar, they're going to get the information they need one way or another, covering your camera is only going to give them more reason to spy on you.Cover camera with small piece of black electrical tape. Good I'm gonna set the phone next to a radio so they can listen to the commercials when they turn on my microphone. If those organizations are going to go through the trouble of enabling your iPhone camera without your knowledge, then I"m pretty sure they have the money, resources and probable cause to spy on you from a distance if you cover your camera. Don't forget, your Vizio and Samsung TV's are listening to you too though.Good I'm gonna set the phone next to a radio so they can listen to the commercials when they turn on my microphone.
While I understand the gist of your message and largely agree that people need to live their lives more and worry about their phones less, this is a widespread issue on a $700-$1000 device that many people use every day for work, cameras, play, directions, research, communication, etc. Also, it has affected users' cameras/photos in some cases.I've been away from this forums for months and it doesn't surprise me that the first time I visit back here, I find some kind of "*gate" issue being discussed. I guess some things never change. There's a handful of folks out there who can't get out and enjoy life without obsessing over something that has no bearing on the functionality or use of their phone.

Cheers. All the best.Will,
I have followed your posts for years and have enormous respect and admiration for your knowledge and willingness to help people. If you say this is so, then it's almost certain that I jumped the gun in my brash post above. Thanks for pointing out that it is a real problem. Looks like I need to do some research and then post my thoughts.
