Does Deleting a Contact Group Delete Contacts?

A long time ago I had set up a group "Cell Phone" in my Apple Address book and now that I use Mobile Me it is more a of a PIA then anything to have this seperate group because sometimes (if I'm not careful) contacts get added to All Contacts and sometimes to cell phone when I am using my iPhone.
If I delete the group "cell phone" will it delete all of the contacts in there or will they just stay as one large group in the main contacts?

I should have just figured common sense would be that it would not delete the contacts and it didn't 🙂
