I've seen all of the blurb on the Apple website about the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz dual band WiFi. I guess my question is how much of a difference does it make?

I am looking at upgrading my network, both of my computers are dual band compatible but I have an older Airport Express which allows 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz but not both. One option is to get some of the mains ethernet adaptors but I like the sound of the new Airport Express.

I transfer a lot of large files from my laptop to a mac mini server.

Will I see a big increase in performance?

Thanks.

The new AirPort Express is as fast, at least if you're so far away that it connects you to the 2.4GHz band. If you want something faster, you need a router with more spatial streams like the Linksys EA3500.
