I already own the egpu, just would need an AMD graphics card unfortunately. I found with my current laptop that it hadn't really reduced temps that much, with temps still ~10*C above the same tasks sans external monitor, but performance was increased.

If anybody could post their temps comparing the two or point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

Temps not that much different. Fan noise remains about the same or more. Under full load, you'll have both the MacBook and the eGPU fans to deal with. At idle, the MacBook may be silent but the eGPU is not.

So I ultimately just go with my 16" as is. It's overall less loud than my 13" + eGPU setup. But your mileage may vary.

I have a Razer laptop and I find my egpu does in fact keep my laptop a lot cooler, I'm seeing temps in the high 50s with the EGPU whereas they'd probably be in the 70s to 80s, depending on the game. Plus (at least with my Razer), the fan noise is a lot better, i.e., the laptop is much quieter.
