Hello,

I am wondering if it is best to setup face of for the first time with good light.
Is it a good idea to do the initial iPhone setup at night with artificial light?
Or is it better to wait until morning and do it in better natural light?

cheers!

FaceID uses it’s own infrared illumination so it should work in pretty much any light level. It also uses computer learning to dynamically improve over time. I’m not sure you can do the initial enrollment in pitch black or not, but I wouldn’t really put too much thought or effort into trying to get a perfect light level.

Like the others have said the light shouldn’t matter.
