because I just read an article that says the recent update does include this with pictures to prove it but for me its still go straight to the app if I press quick reply.

Anyone?

No I'm refering to the quick reply like you respond to a regular SMS. Messenger support this now according from my research but its not working for me.

doesn't work for me. could you not link to the article you read?

Haven't tested it but pressing brings you to the app. You have to pull down the notification.

The latest update has enabled quick reply. It doesn't look quite the same as messages - when I pull down the notification I don't see a text box immediately. It shows a reply button. When I click the reply button, the quick reply text box and keyboard appear instead of the messenger app opening. Works great. Now I just need whatsapp to do the same. Not holding my breath!

weird, it just takes me to the app as it does for OP.
I remember when Twitter released an update saying it added quick reply, it did not work for me for the first day or so and then it did. and yes I definitely updated, and quit the app and opened again to make sure.

so there must be some weird kind of rollout going on for quick reply?

so are you using version 40.0? perhaps some regions have a different versions? or, considering notifications are externally initiated, perhaps the switch for quick reply is part of the notification, and FB are only doing it in some regions etc

I'm using version 37.0 and quick reply is definitely active

Hmmm... Does that wallpaper mean you are running iOS 9.1 beta 3? I'm just a peasant on 9.0.2. Wonder if that is the difference?

yeah I do wonder. however my gf on 9.0.1 on the latest messenger doesn't get quick reply either (I've checked). be strange if it only works on 9.0.2?

Thanks for your replies guys.

Could it be working just in the US at the moment? I'm on 9.0.2 and I'm in Canada and still no luck. On my iPad it support slide over and split screen but quick reply still dont work also. Weird.

Quick update to point out that skype was also updated to support quick reply and its not working at all as well. I don't know what is going on, but iOS9 features restrictions for some users start to piss me off now.

No news app, no nearby places, and quick reply still just work with the standard message app. Great.

My account is on the UK App Store and Facebook messenger quick reply is working for me.

Skype updated and now it works but not messenger so it confirm its a facebook specific problem

Facebook like Google likes to randomly roll out new features to random users instead of pushing it to everyone.

Active for me, minor annoyance that it requires you to unlock your phone to reply from the lock screen.

Are you able to use quick reply with other apps like Twitter, Telegram, WhatsApp or Tweetbot4?

Have you checked your Settings > Touch ID & Password > Reply with Message. Is that turned on?
see also description here.
Is that really what that option does? I recall it being there even before quick reply was introduced and mainly relating to being able to reply with a (usually predefined) message to an incoming call.
