iPhone 13 Pro Max Does Fast Charging decrease battery life?

I’ve used a fast charger primarily . And I don’t get to crazy about when and how I charge. Just throw it on whenever I’m near it… battery is still at 100% got on launch day. 13 PM…

I did this with the 12 PM as well and never found many issues. I do upgrade yearly though

I used to fret about battery longevity on phones, using lower watt chargers overnight to reduce heat, not charging to 100%, etc... Eventually I realized that it does not matter.

I tend to keep my phones 2-3 years, and never has an iPhone battery failed to work acceptably through that entire lifetime. I've noticed no difference between phones I've been "careful" with and phones where I just plug it in when its low and let it charge to 100%, sometimes fast charging.

It's really not worth worrying about unless you keep your phones a long time, and even then, battery replacements aren't that expensive. Just charge your phone and enjoy it.

THIS!
and to top it off, I have AC+ as it is a $1300+ phone that can easily slide out of your hand ...

The way I see it...if a person keeps their phone 2 - 3 years and needs a battery after 2 years, it is cheaper to have Apple replace the battery than buy a new phone. If a person gets a new phone every year, then the life of the battery is a moot question. Either way, it is time for people to stop obsessing over the obvious and enjoy the phone while they have it.

Sometimes I wonder why I take so much care about my batteries. Using 80-40 rule etc.. I think the next owner really appreciates it since I upgrade yearly so in essence my application is moot.

MagSafe fast charging every morning to 100% belkin 3-1 MagSafe charger with a 45W adapter. ??

Phone is nice and toasty when it comes off the charger, perfect for them cold Melbourne winter mornings.

Couldn’t give a crap about the next owner. ?

Fast charging is more convenient and time efficient.

Fast charging my 12 Pro Max last year with a  20W adapter & belkin 3-1 MagSafe fast charger, sold it with 99% battery health.

All these theories on ways to preserve battery health IMHO is a load of you know what.

I reckon usage has more to do with battery health than charging.

The truth is only one: after Apple implemented this percentage of battery life, it ended the lives of many people!

When I used Sony devices, I stayed with them for 3 years and didn't feel any difference in battery life. Today we are obsessed with this percentage.

Only because Apple used bad batteries and slowed down devices to make up for it. Someone the other day posted he was still using an iPhone 4 I believe with original battery.

Apple could put a meter as "good", "regular" and "needs exchange" and not put a percentage. I don't know. My brother wakes up every day and checks the battery percentage of his iPhone ?

The person who can use the device 2 days with the same battery will consequently last longer, because he uses very little and, with it, fewer cycles.

Here in Canada an Apple Store will happily replace your iPhone's battery while-you-wait for $89. In USA the cost is around $69. For a typical two-year battery replacement cycle this is less than a dime per day; it's up to you to decide if those two years will be filled with worry or happiness. You could spend two years trickle-charging and obsessing about the state of your battery -- ending-up with maybe 85% Battery Health after two years. Or you could never even think about it and fast-charge to your heart's content -- ending-up with perhaps 80% Battery Health. Either way your battery will eventually need to be replaced. Personally I want my phone in my hand and not on the charger so I fast-charge it. My iPhone 11 is now 28-months old, shows 82% battery health, and still lasts all day long. YMMV.

Yup lol

I wish I could get all that time back of micro-managing my battery within 60-80%, using 5W chargers, etc. It made no difference at all and in fact--I ended up with a worst percentage battery health that someone with the same charge cycles and them fast charging every night and day. LOL, I gave up after that. Screw all that

Battery management is working great with my 31 month old XR. 96% health after nearly 500 cycles (2.6yrs of 50%batt) and still seems capable of Apple’s 16hrs SOT spec. Charge w/ 5W once a day when time doesn’t matter (while sleeping, or during B’fast/surfing). Use a custom optimization with smartplug or USB dongle, so no babysitting - just plug-in and forget like anyone else.
