Does iOS 14 allow widget to be the same size as the app icon?

Does iOS 14 allow widget to be the same size as the app icon? All the screenshots I have seen show widgets to be bigger than the app icon.
It would be really useful for calendar apps to show day and date on the app icon itself. Currently only Apple calendar app can show this info.

Nope. Only 2x2, 2x4, and 4x4 (in relation to app icons)

I wouldn't be surprised if next year get the ability for '1x1' widgets as app icon.
