Does iOS 4.0.2 work smoother than iOS 4.2?

I'd like to refresh this topic because I still have problems with 4.2.1. I tried nearly everything including restore, 4.3 Beta, activating with/without SIM card and nothing helped.

Is that possible that my iPhone is broken?
