Does iOS , backup through USB cables with iTunes (because I will never purchase cloud capacity)

backup EVERYTHING? Yes I mean , in addition to photos or videos taken with the camera, will it also backup
the data stored in the apps? For example, whatsapp chat history, wechat history, facebook chat history etc

Will it also backup SMS message and phone calls history ? etc

I am asking this question because I work with my iPhone intensively and store a lot of data every day, in case my iphone gets lost or stolen I hope I can restore EVERYTHING to a brand new phone

Yes. You can backup through iTunes. And everything gets backed up. Make sure you choose the option to encrypt the backup so it saves all your passwords too. (iTunes won't back them up if the backup isn't encrypted)

It's a full device backup. Everything but media synced through iTunes will get backed up.

Maybe someone can confirm this but I don't think it'll save your apps. I recently restored mine from a backup after doing a carrier unlock and it had to re download all my apps.

I do have iTunes set to NOT download or keep apps in iTunes. I used to keep them there but turned it off to save space. I never needed them so that wasn't an issue.

If I get in a bind I can always wait until I can get to wifi or something to download the apps. For me, critical are contacts, phone, and texts. Your usage may be different.

Just curious why you restored after unlocking.

That hasn't been necessary since 2011 except in certain specific cirumstances (and the instructions to restore from your carrier/unlock service aren't one of those circumstances).

After my request to unlock was approved I was given a link to go to the instructions. The link didn't work and in my google search I saw to do a restore through iTunes to unlock my iPhone. That's how I had to do it years ago with a previous model so I thought why not.

What are the current instructions?

The carriers are still telling you to restore. Apple itself, includes that as an option but it's last on the list.

All you have to do is insert a different SIM now when the unlock has gone through. When the unlock is sent, Apple's iTunes servers issue a new unlock policy. When your device checks in the policy is applied and you are automatically unlocked.

So, restoring isn't necessary anymore except if you have no SIM to test and really want to verify that you're unlocked.

If your device asks for your Apple ID and password when inserting a different SIM then you are unlocked.

Why the carriers continue to instruct people to restore, I don't know. But again, it's totally unnecessary now.

Ahh. Got it. I'm still with AT&T so couldn't test it with a new SIM. I'm getting it ready to upgrade and a friend is wanting my 6 for her daughter, who's on Cricket. I'm really anxious to upgrade and want it to go as smooth as possible.
