With iPhone 6, Apple Introduced a new version of Space Grey which was lighter than the first Space Grey. Is the space grey used on the iPaf Air 2 the same as the one used on iPhone 6 or is it the same as the 1st gen space grey?

Got SG on my current Air so have just bought a gold version today.

Looks good, but I'm struggling to see any real difference between the two Airs except the old one has a slightly softer white, preferable actually. Early days but I need to do some in depth comparisons tomorrow to decide whether to keep the new one.

No the air 2 is not lighter.

Space grey is darker like the iPad Air 1. Only the iphone has the lighter colour.

I recall reading that it's the new grey :( Apple needs to go darker with it than lighter.

Darker = iPhone 5 "scuffgate" :(

From the specs iPad Air 2 is about 8% lighter than the Air 1. So it's lighter, but not really noticeable I guess.

The gold on the 5s and 6 are different also.

I think the gold on the 6/6+ is really nice.

Agreed, the gold is very nice.

So, I have a Space Grey 6+, and if I were to get a Space Grey Air 1, it will look different?

That's dumb.

It looks as though some people are just guessing here.

I have iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2, both space grey. The colour is identical on both.

It's the new Space Gray. I have an Air 2 and an iPhone 6 in front of me, and they are identical in color. Kind of a bummer as I preferred the color of my Air 1.

I have a 6 plus and Air 2; they're the same space gray on the back. I see that bums other people out, but not me; I prefer this lighter shade.

My iPad Air 2 (top left) is the same color as my iPhone 6 (bottom right) and both are most definitely lighter than my iPad Air (top right) and my iPhone 5s (bottom left).

Very cool

Hopefully they go lighter until it matches silver colour with the white version.

Is the new iPad mini 3 the same as the new iPad Air 2 colour too?

The difference between the Space Greys now is nothing compared to what the Space Grey Apple Watch Sport looks like. It's basically black.

slate looked terrible, the last space gray was an improvement, and the current space gray is great...this trend is going in the right direction.
