iPad Pro Does iPad Pro 12.9" 2017 lose brightness over time?

This can be true. Even though LED does not see the same decay as CCFL tubes, the display can still degrade. People that are extremely serious about color work recalibrate their displays every few months to adjust for the decay.
iPad Pro displays definitely get worse with time. Some of them develop white spots and light bleeds. It maybe a defect but Apple doesn't admit it, so they don't see it as a defect and never fix it.
I’m not so sure about that without any further details. Pretty sure my iPad displays lose some brightness over time, like most other displays.
When the display "loses some brightness" it means a hardware failure. Whether it's Apple or any other manufacturer.
When you say "over time" do you mean
- It isn't as bright as it was back in 2017
- When you turn it on, it dims over a period of minutes/hours?
Although LCD displays do lose brightness over time, we're talking a very long time like 10 years plus before its ever noticeable.
I love these kinds of threads. There's all of this subjective discussion going on with the occasional spattering of absolutes . . all without measurable specifics.
It's mostly because there are too many Apple marketing employees making generalized statements to tone down the problems as they arrive. They cannot say anything specific because Apple hides real number of the defective products. So when someone writes about his/her specific problem, it immediately becomes a mess of bots philosophizing about the tech in general.
The first one. Not as bright as when I got it. I think I got it around May 2018 and without Apple Care.

Could be but so soon! My Samsung Galaxy Note Pro tablet bought few years ago do not have these issues.
I think the brightness of my first generation iPad Pro is also down a bit but I always assumed that there’s a bit of wear going on. I’m no expert though. Sucks for sure one way or another.
My iPad Pro 2016 definitely lost brightness over the years, max brightness now is 1/3 of what it used to be. Noticeable outside, cannot use it in the sun anymore.
With max brightness it run really hot at the edge of the screen, and even dimmed the display after a while to avoid overheating. I guess the LEDs in iPad are run at the limit of their power, get scorchingly hot, and degrade very quickly from high temperature. Same age 2016 macbook pro barely lost any brightness, and a 2017 iMac definitely have not lost any. I blame high-powered LEDs in a tiny iPad Pro case with insufficient cooling for them.
