We know that if we click to take photo very quickly, the photo may become out of focus. This is common sense.

However, do I need to wait until the yellow square comes out before taking photo? Is it just good and the photo will be good most of the time?

Sometimes, the yellow square doesn't even come out, or comes out only after a while.

Sometimes, ONLY after I send the pictures to my computer and then I find out that some pictures are slightly out of focus, but it wasn't easily noticed when it is on the phone or in normal size.

Do you have any advice on this issue?

Great question! The iPhone camera usually focuses pretty quickly, but it's not instant. Waiting for the yellow square (the autofocus lock) can indeed help ensure your photos are in focus most of the time. But remember, factors like lighting conditions and the distance from your subject can affect focus speed and accuracy.

If the yellow square isn't appearing quickly or at all, try tapping on your screen where you want the camera to focus. That should prompt the autofocus to lock onto that area.

As for photos appearing out of focus on your computer, it could be due to the resolution differences between your iPhone screen and your computer screen. The larger display may make any focus imperfections more noticeable.

How about if I don't want to tap on the screen for the yellow square to appear, but I hold my phone steadily for a few seconds, then will it be just fine? Because I will always forget to tap on the screen for the yellow square.

If you hold your phone steadily for a few seconds, your iPhone camera should indeed automatically focus on the subject in the center of the frame. The iPhone uses a technology called "autofocus", which means it's always trying to keep the center of the frame in focus. It's quite sophisticated, so even if you forget to tap the screen, it should still do a pretty good job.

However, tapping the screen does give you more control over the camera's focus point, which can be particularly helpful if your subject isn't in the center of the frame, or if there are multiple potential subjects. If you're finding that you often forget to tap, maybe try practicing it a bit more and it might become second nature!

What’s sometimes rough for autofocusing for iPhone is people in the frame. Their faces usually get focused on even if you’re trying to take a photo of the surrounding area.
I also think the iPhone autofocus “resting” distance is like 2’. So like photos in the car or at your desk at work seem to be focused instantly.
Anything closer or further away than 2’ takes a moment while lenses move.
I don’t know if this is actually true, just my perception
