Interesting. However, it would be a little strange for Apple to dump that feature quite so soon.

I infer the island is entirely software-based, that is, it can completely disappear, unlike other iPhones. Somewhat stretches the word ‘island'. Although, islands can and do get entirely covered, submerged sometimes. So it would still be accurate, I guess.

If you look close at the image you can see it on the upper center right side, but you see it better on some of the first hand videos recorded today!

So if I had to guess, there’s an option you can disable if one wishes to not have a black mark on the screen, interesting. All those questions will be answered once it gets in reviewers hands tho.

I'm assuming it'll be on the outside screen, near where the missing FaceID camera would have been.
