There can be issues having trouble installing, BUT you can always restore your ipod...you can't brick it.

I *almost* thought I bricked mine once but the only problem I had was getting it into recovery mode which is quite tricky! so it is possible to 1/2 brick it (if that counts)

I was hesitant for a while before finally deciding to jailbreak mine. My only regret is wishing that I had done it sooner...
