hi guys, i am wondering if the ipod touch has an internet connect app that allows me to use VPN like on mac os x? cause i've been searching around and nobody covered that topic. a little help here would be much appreciated cause i would like to use it in my school :) a picture would be great too! :) thanks in advance

I don't think that it does. I've gone through all the settings and can't find it like I could on the iPhone.

oh god. and i was looking forward to replace my macbook with my ipod touch for convenience sake. now it ruined my plan. jee this suck. alright thanks :)

Haha sorry to ruin your plan. Its still a great device though. It'll be even better once its able to be modded.

Interesting. The iPhone supports PPTP and L2TP VPN's. It can be configured in the Settings -> General -> Network -> VPN page. There is also a switch to turn it on and off at the top level Settings page. This does not appear on the Touch?

Touch does have a VPN

I've done the jailbreak, and now in my Network Settings I have a VPN option.

I've tested out the PPTP VPN and it seems to work for a bit and then dies, but it's a start....

there is also vnsea available under installer/network/vnsea if you installed the community apps...but I can't get it to work lol

Does this have anything to do with the 802.1x protocol? If not, would 802.1x even be able to work on the touch?

My university let you use the method of your choice, so I would be glad to have either one, but that might not be the case for everyone.
