Hey I was just wondering this because I'm coming back from London on a 3 hours and a half bus journey. I know that digital music downloads are now very popular and it is my main way of getting music due to space reasons and from iTunes just invade you wanted to know. Anyway I bought 2 CDs from a hmv (Newton faulkner - delux edition and a REM CD) so on this long trip home I can't listen to them which is really annoying and I think they should maybe sell a cheap portable CD player as an option once you spend over so much money for a small fee so you can enjoy your newly purchased CDs straight away.
I'd like to hear what everyone else thinks of this idea as well. Good, bad or just stupid?

You bought something without a way to play it and were surprised to find that you couldn't play it? And now whine that they should give you a player free?

By an iPhone, purchase songs from iTunes, enjoy immediately. Wasn't that easier? ;)

No not for free but for a slightly cheaper price when you spend over a certain amount.

@Demosthenes X the albums that I bought were not available on the iTunes store. It would be easy but we are losing more record stores and the community a bit. I remember going into a record shop and someone saw me looking at a CD and they said if you like them you'd probably love counting crows so I gave them a listen and I did.

If you intend to buy a CD...bring a CD player along? I mean really, they sell at a lot of places dirt cheap; heck, I'm sure you can find a good one on eBay for next to nothing. Plan ahead next time maybe?

This problem requires common sense, allow me to solve it for you.
You went out to buy a CD and hoped to listen to it during a journey. So take a portable CD player. Not an iPod/MP3 player.

It's fine, there is no need to thank me.

Did you not ask them for their USB key version of those albums.

They keep them in the back, due to theft concerns.

I know what you mean man. But as I don't take the train or bus often... if i buy a CD and can't listen to it it sucks. I actually bought a CD on the streets of ireland recently (I was traveling europe) and I couldn't really listen to it until a month later. Granted I had heard the band live... but still.

He could set-up a card table outside the store, and sell to like-minded individuals.

An opportunity missed is an opportunity lost. ;)

It seems your logic is a bit flawed.

"I bought 20 gallons of gasoline, they should give me a car to carry it home in."
