Does it take long from 'preparing to ship' stage?

I'm waiting for my new 15" MBP to arrive at my local Apple Store (purchased online, shipped to local Apple store for pick up).
It says it's available for pick up on Dec 20, but I realized today that the status changed to 'preparing to ship'. Any chance it will arrive before Dec 20?

My custom ordered MacBook Pro arrived from China about 4 days after I received the preparing to ship status. It was amazingly fast this time, but I paid the $8 expedited shipping fee, which may have resulted in a quicker delivery.

It may actually ship before it changes. Just need to keep checking.
