Does mac need antivirus software ore not?

i wondering if macs need antivirus or not, cos more and more you find antivirus programs built for macintosh.... what do you guy's think about it?

FWIW, I haven't had an anti-virus app on my Mac since upgrading to OS X. I probably didn't need it for OS9 either, as "updating virus definitions" even then was probably a useless routine. With no new virus definitions to download, as the virus has to come first, it wasn't doing anything meaningful.
