Have you compared trackpad clicking sound and feel in silent room?My wife has an Air and I have a pro from 2017....aside from the body style difference they both feel and look the same as far as quality build and everything.

Not next to each other but she has used it in bed next to me and it doesn’t sound any different than my pro.Have you compared trackpad clicking sound and feel in silent room?
I think that muffles the sound. Not next to each other but she has used it in bed next to me and it doesn’t sound any different than my pro.
Could you elaborate what exactly makes it feel cheap then? Especially compared to MBP 13.3"?it feels cheap but not in the tacky way, in the I can't believe I've got a laptop this quick for £999
Make sense to me because I actually felt like downgrade in quality going from Air 2018 to Pro 2019, except the display was much better in Pro. Even speaker sound quality was much worse in Pro which sounded very tinny and lacking bass compared to Air 2018. I hope they have kept up the quality, but fear the worst especially with the display panel in Air.Feels premium to me and I'm coming from a loaded 2020 i7 MBP 13.
I definitely prefer the wedge shape for typing. Much more comfortable over the long haul.
and NO TOUCHBAR
What MBA did you buy? The base model or the upgraded model?I've had 13" MBP's and 2020 Intel MBA and now a M1 MBA.
The build and form factor on the Air are excellent. These are the factors that I prefer about the MBA over the MBP:
1. No Touchbar - I literally detest the Touchbar. Even if you set it to show the same buttons as the function keys, there is no physical tactility and it takes more effort/looking to find the buttons. Plus feels like a total waste having it there doing nothing of use.
2. Angled keyboard - I prefer the comfort of typing on the MBA, the MBP's leading case edge is slightly raised and would dig into my wrists.
3. Smaller trackpad - nobody mentions this but I actually prefer the slightly smaller trackpad on the MBA vs the MBP. I found the Pro one was too large, my wrists would rest on it, and it generally felt more awkward to cross the width of it while dragging, etc.
awesome! I ordered it a few min ago. Its kinda unnecessary for me to upgrade since I have an 18 MBP 13" but with the black friday target gift card deals and resale value on my pro, I'll end up with a new computer and extra cash in hand at the end of the day so it was silly not to upgrade
I meant it feels cheap as in its a fantastic laptop for the money, not cheap as in build quality. it feels just as good as my 2015 MBP in fact its easier to type on, better screen etc.Could you elaborate what exactly makes it feel cheap then? Especially compared to MBP 13.3"?
OK, I see.I meant it feels cheap as in its a fantastic laptop for the money, not cheap as in build quality. it feels just as good as my 2015 MBP in fact its easier to type on, better screen etc.
You are cheesy....It felt cheap before I walked into the store and looked at the price tag
Macbook Pro: Weight: 3.0 pounds (1.4 kg)I just didn’t want the extra BULK on the pro when it’s not needed !!
Yeah, I wish it was a bit lighter. I'm coming from a 12" MacBook which weighs 2.03 pounds (0.92 kg)More weight difference than I thought

The Macbook Pro M1 13" is a really solid heavy piece of art, truly impressive in use.Yeah, I wish it was a bit lighter. I'm coming from a 12" MacBook which weighs 2.03 pounds (0.92 kg)
Holding out hope they do a 12" M1 next year.
Well, it is light ..lol.. j/kComing from 2018 pro, looking to upgrade to either an Air or pro m1. Everything I've read, the air will be fine for my needs. Im no power user. But in the past it felt like a cheaper computer. Is it comparable now.. like the screen / keyboard / trackpad?
Tried to check them out in person but that seems impossible these days and want to order one. I just don't want it to end up being a downgrade.
