Alright I have a MB and I'm going to sell it and get an MBP so I can do some video editing w/ final cut. I have 1 GB RAM in my MB...can I take 512 out and pop it in the MBP? I think it would save money...

Thanks

Yes

Although a single 512 Mb SODIMM is a non-standard configuration and may make the MacBook harder to sell. Apple's stock 512 configuration would be 2 x 256 Mb SODIMMs to take advantage of Dual Channel Access.
