I’m curious to find out if a microfiber cloth used to clean screens and camera lenses wears out eventually?

Yes.
It can only absorb so much oil and dirt and then be washed only a couple of times. I get 6 months use out of a 3M-2011 12x14 microfibre cloths ( bigger cloths last longer - more surface area to absorb oil/dirt ). Typically wash then two times ( delicate, nothing else in the wash; soap, no fabric softner ).
I buy them in bulk, I think they come in quantity 50 and 10 packs.

Yes, it will. Over time, the fibers in the cloth will break down, not to mention trap debris in the fibers. Washing the cloth also lends to the cloth slowly breaking down over time.

I use a new microfiber cloth for my eyeglasses every month and I also do the same for my Mac.

How can you tell when they are worn out, just don’t clean as well anymore like they used to?
