How do you even turn gps off on an iPhone?

Location services.

It doesn't kill battery anywhere near as much as people believe. It doesn't run 24/7. Just when you launch the app in most cases. The only ones which always run are apps like tomtom.

Oh ok thanks. If I turned that off, I'd have to go in and turn it on every time I wanted to use google maps. No thanks.

I come from android where I could turn GPS on/off with the push of a single button on my home screen.

Plus, leaving location services on doesn't eat much battery if you manage which apps are allowed to access it.
