Ok, so I've had my iPod since the end of may and loved every minute of it. Lately, well ever since I've had it, it seems, that if I leave for a period of about 2 or 3 days without it coming on it restarts and does the apple thing and reboots every time. Also, I dont think i'm getting the right battery power out of it. Another thing.. I just downloaded the july iPod update a few days ago (yeah im late) and tried to put it on my iPod and i noticed i had to restore my iPod to facotory settings and delete all the songs.. Ok i did it and then the little update button would never become active and all it would let me do is restore. The version i have on it right now is 2.2 is that the version i need? any help with this would be good, and tell me if the reboot thing on it is normal...

thanks

You might have downloaded the software for an old generation iPod. As for starting up every time you use it, I think that's because the iPod mini and iPod 4G actually shut themselves off to save power.

For your battery life concerns, the power meter on the upper right corner is not always accurate. It can show zero but still play for two or more hours, so I would test how long it can play (it should be 10-14 hours) before complaining to Apple about it.

I can tell you that much is normal. If you leave it for a few days, it goes into a "deep sleep" mode. This is opposed to the regular sleep it goes into when you hold pause.

..sorry, I'm too tired to think about the rest.

your fine, its supposed to shut off, battery life *will not* be 8 hours unless u encode in 16kbps and turn all features off and u still might not get it. as for software, and i just checked my ipod and it's 2.2
