As the title says, will the new airport extreme card with 802.11n work in an old iMac G3 capable of adding an airport card? I know I need the card adaptor, but does this new one work fine, or do I need to buy an older version? Also, which old macs would have compatible airport cards?

Few options

Original Airport card. These can be expensive because it's no longer produced. Costs $80 or more? which is the same price or more expensive as an iMac g3).

USB wireless card. These are limited to the usb 1 transfer speed of imac g3. So even if you get g, you'll be at most be at b speed.

Long ethernet cable.
