Just wanted to check - a new phone does it mean lot more lint and dust sticking on it all the time.
When I keep 12 screen side down, it just picks up lint and micro dust from the surface.

next to it when I keep my iPhone X, nothing at all.

just wandering if the finger print resisting coating attracts lot more dust.. and how to prevent it from doing.

Noticed mine picking up what you call micro dust on the screen of my 12 Pro Max.

Seems to be less already.

An example of micro-dust; This is from the same black colored Mat, when I place it screen side down.
X doesn't have much, 12 has some dust..

I can only assume that the oleophobic coating on X might be worn out completely.

very easy to clean, just wipe it off so not really a worry, just that I need to wipe off every time I pick up the device..which actually happens 30-40 times a day 😬

Probably from the oleophobic (sp?) coating on the screen on new iPhone. The old iPhone coating wore off... thus less dust attraction.

Not sure where you live, but this may be an issue in winter months (think static electricity) more so than in the summer. If that's the cause, there may not be much of a long term fix. You can definitely try wiping it down as recommended above, but that may not be more than a temporary fix.

Yep - it’s not a compulsive thing but rather an annoyance to keep wiping your phone on shirt or trouser before using it.

and if there is a way to get reduce this dust collection then why not. 🙃🙂
