Hello all. For some reason the notability app does not open on my new M1 Macbook Pro. I've tried uninstalling it from the App store and reinstalling it and it just won't open. I'm wondering if anyone else has this app and if it works for them?

So yes it works on the M1 Mini. You mention the App Store, and while I understand that we are suppose to be able to run iOS apps on the M1 machines, the version of Notability I use was downloaded from the Mac App Store, and not the iOS App Store. It was noted that for the iOS version you needed to go to the iOS App Store. 🤷‍♂️

I have Notability (downloaded from the Mac App Store) running on my M1 MBA. No issues at all with this so far, syncs across fine with Notability on my other devices.

My Notability is also downloaded from the Mac App Store. Whenever I try to open it no windows pop up, the only thing I get is "new document" option on my touchbar.

I have an M1 MBA and have the same problem as you jakob95. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling notability multiple times and nothing changes. I haven't found a solution yet, but perhaps there will be an update to the app or macOS that fixes it soon.

Thanks I ended up fixing it by completely removing the app with CleanMyMac and reinstalling it.

I lost all of my documents using the instructions above. Jakob95, I'm going to get that program and try and see if that works. I am so upset that I lost everything (because it backups to iCloud across all my documents.

Have you ever made a time machine backup of your Mac previously?

Yes. I'm just a novice. I do have the entire backup from just a few days ago. I am going to have to figure out how to just copy those backed up notability files to my new computer one way or another. But your post about CleanMyMac was spot on. It totally did the trick!
