Does preauthorization mean the card won’t declined when it gets charged?

I’m looking forward for launch day and I’ve recently updated my payment method this morning. The lady said the card has been authorized now. But I’m afraid the card will decline on launch day.

Does preauthorization mean it has put the set amount of your credit on hold, or does preauthorization mean to validate that the credit card number works?

Preauthorization means that apple put a hold for the amount of the phone to make sure the credit card would work. I wouldn't worry about it being declined once they officially charge it.

From what I've seen here on the forums before even if it is declined Apple will contact you by email to give you a day or two to choose another method of payment.
