Hello, does RAM price go down after 1-2 years?

I thought about not buying them right away and instead wait a bit before adding them to imac 27", which I plan to buy at some point. The reason being I think 8GB is still fine for anything I do for now. I have MBA 2012 model with 8GB RAM and it works fine for me.

Upon a quick check on RAM for older models, it does seem like price more or less remains the same however. Perhaps crucial and other places have discount on certain dates through the year instead then?

Think it mostly goes down in chunks when new JEDEC timings are announced and released

Prices go down from launch and then go back up as the technology is phased out.

But shortages or high demand may make prices go up temporarily before it is on the way out.
