All iPads Does serial number check reveal if item is stolen?

I’m looking at possibly buying a new in box Magic keyboard off of someone locally.

I just want to make sure it’s legit and not stolen.
Would Apple’s serial number check reveal that or simply whether it’s been registered and warranty remaining?
