Does sidecar work remotely if you VPN back to your home network?

I have apps that only work locally on my home network and I can use them remotely if I VPN back to my home network.

Does this trick work with sidecar ?

Would be super handy to use some pro apps remotely that aren’t available on iPad

Sidecar is not a Remote Desktop type thing, it's just a screen extender, like airplaying to an Apple TV
