Does siri on Apple Watch speak?

She doesn't speak, just text. hey siri has been working fine for me. The screen has to be lit.

She doesn't. I'm having similar issues getting her attention. Additionally, I can't reply to messages and the ones i try sending fail.

Yeah I just use the double tap button more now, "hey Siri" is not quite right yet, (hopefully a software update will fix it a bit.) It's not a big deal, but I also would love to hear her voice come from the watch, but my guess is that would only happen with Gen 2 or 3.
Either way I'm happy with it. I just hope I never drop a 7 pound iron pan on the screen, (that cnet torture test made me kind of wish I ordered the Sapphire Screen SS one, lol)

For some reason my iMessage got deactivated. I deactivated it on the iPhone and it works fine now.
