it is not about length, it is the width that matters.

anyway the size of the screen matters less then the resolution.15" is great when it has 1680*1050 px. you can show lots on that.13" would be fine too at 1366 or even 1440. but 1280*800 is just too small for comfort.

13" is as wide as a 4:3 15" It's just fine for college, I use mine everyday for all kinds of tasks and it works perfectly, yes 15" and 17" are bigger and nicer but i don't feel the need and heavier

I never feel it small for anything, however a 10" Acer laptop is too small, Apple would never make products that make you struggle visually, that's why they made an iPad which is not a minilaptop instead of a netbook and the MacBook Air for those who can't breath
