i dont get it, why would they make the white iphone have a black front too? its stupid, it would look so much better if it had a white front too. but now, it's like michael jackson, all confused and ****, originally black, but wants to be white.
 
The reason for the "black face" is because that is the off color of the LCD and if it was a black square on a "white face" is would look horrible.

Yep. You can't make the screen another color, so the front is ALWAYS going to be black.

The only thing you could do is make the trim around it white and, well, like you said: ugh.
 
Oh come on now. Are we still bitching about the white iPhone 3G with a black face? On the other hand, the glossy black iPhone 3G looks dull to me.

That makes no sense and isn't even accurate. The black is so slick, the white if anything looks dull. It's a nice clean look, but certainly not glossy looking.

Dull as in boring, I think is what he meant, not Dull as in lacking luster or shine.

wow holy shlt.. way to be a trendy slave. ever since i got my white iphone everyone i show crys bout the same thing. Seriously get over it. If it pisses you off that much don't buy white, it obviously wasn't made for everyone.
 
yes, because Steve has put black and white stripes all over his other Apple products. Definitely enough to call it a fetish.
 
The face is still black so that they didn't need to manufacture additional new parts including a new button and could still say they made another color option. It doesn't look horrible, but it is a cop out that's pretty much only related to cost. Color options for the back are a matter of flipping a switch compared to the other pieces.

I agree...white would look like some cheap iPhone copy.
 
I really like the contrast between the white 'shell' and the black 'inside' – it reminds me of an old TV or an egg chair.

Black and white are signature, classic colors and dont clash. Im a big fan of black and white myself but I would hate to see colored iphones. I think it would make them look cheap and "toy-ish".
 
So far, I haven't seen Steve Jobs in black mock turtlenecklack and white jeans during his Stevenote™ moment.

i disagree. although i got the black 8GB, that's all that was left on day one, i know that if it was all white it would be hot. super cool. how do i know?


i own this lcd hdtv in 40 inch. and even when it's off and the screen is black, it is the coolest thing in the world. i always get compliments. and the white is shiney plastic, mac style.

I'm going to try to ignore the ridiculousness of this thread and say:

1. You don't have to buy it- it's your wholesome choice to do so.

2. It's a phone! JUST A PHONE. Does it REALLY matter what it looks like? You should buy a phone for it's functionality not for it's looks.
