I'm wondering that as well. It's not looking good. My iPhone 3G could, with an external stereo mic attached. But that doesn't work the iPhone 4, not even with an adapter. The Mikey doesn't work either. I don't know why Apple always seems to discontinue really useful features on their devices....
 
it doesnt. i have a couple recording apps and none record in stereo. i dont know if there is an api open to use both microphones in the iphone 4

I thought the 2nd mic was used for noise cancelling only.
So with only one recording you will not get stereo.

the second mic is used for noise cancelation. but i thought maybe while u were recording in a recording app apple might open up the other mic as an api. they did for the flash as a flashlight.

True, but wouldnt it still be doing its job for noice cancelling while recording?
 
The biggest problem is that they are two different mics and you would notice a difference. It just wouldn't sound right.
