I was just checking the features.

    http://www.apple.com/ca/fr/ipodtouch/

Scrolled down to notification center and it says that the iPod touch missed a phone call. Is it something new in iOS5

    Just wondering!

Third party app like Acrobits can turn the iPod Touch into a fairly good WiFi phone.

There is no cell radio or baseband on the IPOD touch so it cannot be used to make regular phone calls. You can use a VOIP app like Skype to make WIFI calls.

That's a blooper. It does show a missed phone call .

The touch doesn't make phone calls though.

Not over a wireless network but there are apps to allow you to. Viber is a free app then lets you call people without signing up for a service, it's one of the better phone apps for the iPod touch

I've never seen the iPhone described in quite that way. I thought the dimensions and resolution of the current iPhone and current iPod touch were identical, and it was just the consequences of the various underlying LCD technologies that differentiated them in terms of contrast and viewing angle...

You can get a VOIP app. Ex. Textfree with voice.

In addition to what other users have said, you could also use the app "iCall."

    That's probably it.

I just recently dumped my iPhone 3GS/and it's contract for a touch and use Talkatone at home on WiFi. It works well but I can't say it's the best one out there. I'm going to look at the other suggestions above.

Edit: After investigating the above suggestions it appears Talkatone Premium with Google Voice like I have set up is the way to go.

I can't believe it took that many posts for this to be suggested. :roll eyes:

WHAT? MISSED CALL?!? IT MUST BE A SECRET PHONE IN THE TOUCH, NOT THE FAR MORE LOGICAL ASPECT OF A FACETIME CALL.
