Does the MBA supports Maya 2015? I am a transportation design student and i need it only for 3d model rendering of auto mobiles. I am not going to use maya for any animations. what kind of specs do i need in my macbook air to support maya for 3d rendering.

You want the 13" with 8GB of RAM and either SSD options. It will work fine, but you really want a 15" MacBook Pro as mentioned on Autodesk's certified hardware page.

That is a MacBook Pro and not the Air.

Doesnt matter..................................

Just because it's not certified doesn't mean it wont work.. It will work. Autodesk doesn't want 500 million calls about what computer to get or will this XXX device work. They will tell to check the certified website.

I run Autodesk Design Suite (Inventor, Vault, Maya, Autocad), Solidworks 2014 and NX9 all off a Surface Pro 3 (128gb model 4gb)

You dont need 8gb of ram either.

OP- Get which ever you can afford. 4gb or 8gb. 128gb or 256gb. Is it worth it to go 8gb? Idk As I said I use a surface pro 3 4gb model with 128gb ssd storage. You really should get a desktop and a cheaper labtop.
