i know the new ipad pros have hdr playback but arent 4k screens. Im getting me the new apple tv 4k and a new sony 4k tv next month but in the meantime will this upgrade add hdr to some of my movies on my new 2017 ipad pro 12.9 inch?

I would guess so. Yes i know the pros dont have the 4k resolution but they should still in theory be able to handle the HDR right?

Im re downloading a few movies on my pro now and going to compare it to the films on my 7plus to see if their is a color diffrence.
(Yes I know about turning off true tone at night shift to get a better test) but apple wasnt totally clear on the details and im a bit confused.

Just waiting on confirmation from someone that this is DEF the case then I’m off to Apple to pull the trggger. Have been planning on upgrading to the pro from a non-pro 2017 iPad for a while. Confirmation of 4K+HD10/Dolby Vision support would be the The straw that breaks the camels back

Looks like The Verge have confirmed HDR usage of iTunes files but at 1080p, not 4K on the iPad Pro.

I just redownloaded Independence Day on 10.5" iOS11 GM.
I noticed nothing different from the one already downloaded in iOS10.

Why did you do that? That was useless!
They have not rolled out the new 4k content updates in iTunes.
This will happen when iOS11, high Sierra and new Apple TV are officially released!
I would guess around September 19-25 will be the big day...

Simply because it shows “HDR” icon already on my iPad!
