Does the T-Mobile SIM Swap trick still work for APN?

Has anyone updated and can confirm that the T-Mobile SIM swap trick still works under 5.1.1 for the 4S?

I still think it is absurd that I have to use a bug or a trick to set the correct APN settings for Go Phone or Straight Talk for example. If you agree please leave some feedback:

The easiest way to set an APN for gophone is to use the iPhone Configuration Utility. Create a profile with just an APN setting in it, and it'll work.
