Does the Third-gen Butterfly Keyboard matter? (2017 rMB vs 2018 MBA)

Is there a model number one can get so they know for sure that the MBA they are purchasing has 3rd gen vs. 2nd? And, what's the "repair policy" on the 2nd if I decide to take my chances? Now that we know there's a problem ...


UPDATE: I did figure out model numbers but is the 3rd generation for the AIR under the same warranty as the 2nd gen for the MBP?

All new macbook from 2018 (air and pro) are not include in that program because it still covered in 1 year warranty, maybe after 1 year apple will include them.

my wife has the 2017 pro with the second gen. i have a 2016 macbook with the first gen.

there is a noticeable difference in travel, but you forget about it after a while and just type. No difference in accuracy for me, and if i wasnt told they were of different generation id chalk up the difference to the manufacturer's tolerance.
the difference isnt as life changing as id thought.

Now my buddy bought a 2018 macbook air, and i absolutely cannot tell the difference in feel, but I can tell because of the sound, which I prefer..
