Hi!

I am buying a macbook air, but unsure if to wait until Mountain Lion ships with it. My main concern is that if the uppgrade will take any more memory than if it was already on the system to begin with. Geting the 128ssd so memory is precious!

It shouldn't take too much more if any because ever since Lion Apple has not installed the "extras" on the install discs (iDVD, printers, Garage band, language support files, etc) because they take extra room

This is going to be a big concern of mine as well.

Back in Aug 2011, I was on an extremely limited budget and basically had no choice but to get the $999 2gb/64gb model.

While the MBA has been stellar under Lion and 2gb has surprisingly been more than enough, the fact that this configuration is completely gone for 2012 and leading into Mountain lion has me worried that Apple realized 2gb would not be sufficient for M.Lion and the upgrade might not run well on these models.

I had no intention replacing my MBA. it does everything i've thrown at it. So If ML doesn't run well on 2gb RAM, I will either have to look at replacing it, or not upgrading the OS.

and Unlike Aug 2011, there are actually competition in the Ultrabook market.

Thank you for pointing that out! but why do you post such (to the subject at hand) unnecessary information?

Because you were confusing the terms, and in order to find correct answers, correct terms might help you. Otherwise, disregard it and learn something else, if you deem that to be unnecessary information.

I don't think it's really "unnecessary information". I clicked on this thread because I was curious about why an upgrade would require "more memory", then I learned that you really meant "more storage space".

No big deal one way or the other though. :)

Would like to know the answer to this question also... How much space will MT LION add vs having the computer orig ship with it.
