a 9.5mm slot loading slimline sata blu ray drive?

I want to swap out the drive in my macbook pro...but...

I don't think you can get a blue-ray driver for a Mac though. So even if you were able to install it, you would probably not be able to get it to work.

I'm curious what you want to do with Blu-ray that you can't already do with hard drives. :)

Oh, it works. My internal BD-RE/HD DVD-ROM drive is recognized by my MacBook Pro. HD DVD and Blu-ray movies show up on the Desktop. They just can't be played.

HandBrake can even READ from them... but they can't be ripped. :p Oh, well.

FastMac.com sells Blu-ray drives/burners for the older macbooks and powerbooks so I assume its only a matter of time before they release a SATA version

When the price of BD blanks comes down a bit I'll definitely be after an external burner that'd hopefully work with my mbp. Not fussed about playback, that's what HD mkv's are for :)

Make Blu-ray disks from iMovie HD to play on your laptop or on an external Blu-ray player hooked up to an HD TV.

I was hoping this latest version of the MacBook Pro would have that feature. Apple says no and they don't know when or if they will.
