I don't think you can get a blue-ray driver for a Mac though. So even if you were able to install it, you would probably not be able to get it to work.

Oh, it works. My internal BD-RE/HD DVD-ROM drive is recognized by my MacBook Pro. HD DVD and Blu-ray movies show up on the Desktop. They just can't be played.
HandBrake can even READ from them... but they can't be ripped. 😛 Oh, well.
FastMac.com sells Blu-ray drives/burners for the older macbooks and powerbooks so I assume its only a matter of time before they release a SATA version
When the price of BD blanks comes down a bit I'll definitely be after an external burner that'd hopefully work with my mbp. Not fussed about playback, that's what HD mkv's are for 🙂
