Ok, let me revise what I said above. If I open the image in Firefox and magnify it so its actual size, I get the crazy flickering. However if I open the image in Preview and blow it up the actual size...no flickering.

Odd.

Mine Flickers!! YAY!!! Im not the odd man out! JK... but still is wierd

9C68 (Samsung)

Same w/ Samsung...

Yeah I downloaded it and opened it in Preview, actual size and zoomed in & out a few times - it just looks like a grey striped pattern but I didn't notice any flicker!

I've got the 2.4GHz 15" MBP with a Samsung display.

Looks fine on my 2.4 w/ Samsung as well... ;)

Like some people have noticed: the flicker is most obvious if you turn your brightness up (to full, preferably).

It's weird that it doesn't seem to flicker for some people, even though others with the same panel get the flicker. I don't know what to make of this.

Just out of curiosity, how did you come up with this pattern, to the naked eye, it seems black to me...

/.../ That's actually my semi-transparent terminal laying on top of Operas error page. That's how I noticed it. :)

Are you sure you didn't just download the thumbnail?

It flickers not only on my SR MBP's Samsung screen, but also on my 20" Dell LCD connected to my MBP. The flicker on the Dell is not so apparent, but nevertheless I'm sure it's there. Moreover, I've used the Dell for over two years with various computers, and I can't remember having problems like this before.

I guess this might indicate that it's actually the GPU that's causing the problem, not the panel.

finalgear.coms front page features a rectangular pattern down the left and right sides of the main news column and that makes my LG screened macbookpro go crazy as well,

why does it do that?

also with the rather narrow viewing angles i cant really determine if i have that yellow tint problem or whether its just viewing angles, i think tis just vieing angles because when i view portions of the screen head on...all seems well.

also got some wierd back light bleed, i dont mind when its even but i have like a dark mountain shape 2 inches from the bottom left corner and the bottom right corner is also totally black, how it should be.

along the top there is a thin line that is brighter than everything else, probably the row of LEDs doing this, the rest of the panel has the usual really dark grey look which does look black in some lights. ill try get a shot of it.

It does flicker for me, though when I changed the color profile from the default LCD profile, the flicker doesn't seem as bad, but is still there if you look closely. I'm still curious how you ran into this particular gradient that flickers on some macbook screens.

Very very slight flicker on full screen brightness. I can hardly see it on my 1920x1200 MBP.

The flicker is related to the SR MBPs, so it's not weird that your older MBP or whatever other mac you have, show no signs of flicker.

But like someone said, it may be related to the GPU and not the screen.

That's true. I didn't try connecting the MBP to my Dell screen, that's what I should've done.
