I hope not. There are still so many other things that I use it for on my iMac and will use it for on my future MBP...

I don't know. Maybe they will drop the price on the external one. I can see them having two hard drives in the macbook pro. One small ssd (macbook air one) for apps and OS and another actual hard drive to put media and stuff on. They may include options for just having one also, like the 27 in imac.

I'd rather have them use the space to put in a discrete graphics card on the 13" MBP instead of a second hdd. =]

around snow leopard coming out, some people posted about their drives going out. Are superdrives prone to failure over regular drives?

I've never had a computer yet that didn't have that break first (including PCs). I think they are just inherent weak links.

It's gone baby!

Lol a few weeks ago there were so many people passionately disagreeing with everyone that predicted this. oh what I'd do to see their faces now:D

yes please. I've always considered it dead weight. And I think the ssd and hdd sounds like a perfect configuration right now. but we'll just have to wait.....:D

What about the ppl that don't have access to unlimited bandwidth? Going to be tough downloading GB's worth of software.

They'll have some decisions to make.

External ODDs are higher quality, and can be stored when not in use, so they just make more sense, since they really aren't used THAT often anymore.

Do we really need another one of these threads....they always turn out the same. A flame war about people thinking Apple will put a better cpu/gpu/battery/ssd in and then those that need the drive. Who the hell cares is all I have to say.
