NO it isn't the one with the LED backlight

The guy above has linked you the specs for the new MBP not the old one your looking to buy.

The high-res 17" antiglare LED Backlit widescreen TFT screen gives you sharp-looking text and graphics

So yes, it is LED. FYI, this model isn't the high-res model. Nevertheless, it's not a bad deal, as :apple: has it for $1899.

It does have LED backlight.

Sorry, but the unibody 17" MacBook Pro is the first 17" with LED backlighting. That model doesn't have LED regardless of what their description says.

I'll trust the tech specs on Apple's site.

I was under the impression from looking at them for a friend before the unibody that if you ordered the 17" with the Hires option that it was LED backlit. I could be wrong, that was some time ago.

I clicked the link and thought he was looking at the new ones. It was an honest mistake.

I thought he was talking about the new 17 but he wasn't.

I stand corrected. With the hi-res (1920x1200) option it is LED backlit. However this model is the standard 1680x1050 resolution, so no LED.

Apparently whoever wrote this item's description was misinformed.

This machine does not have an LED, no matter what that advert says.

Agreed.

My bet is that they wrote LED in place of LCD. The only other possible mistake that they could have made is on the res, but that's a much less likely scenario.
