Does watchOS 5.2.1 allow ecg to work outside US?

Hi so I’m in india n I got the s4 watch in usa and now with 5.1.3 ecg works fine in India.

The watch keeps prompting me to update to 5.2.x but I’m afraid ecg will stop working.

Anyone in similar situation india using ecg with latest watchOS 5.2.x? Please advise thanks!

I’m in Mexico, which is basically in the same situation as India (ECG not yet approved). I activated ECG on a US bought AW series 4 before updating to iOS 12.2 and watchOS 5.2 and neither those software updates nor any other later software updates made ECG stop working here in Mexico. Thus, I can confirm: if you already have ECG working, installing software updates definitely won’t affect it. The additional restrictions apple put in place with iOS 12.2 and watchOS 5.2 seemingly only apply to people who didn’t have ECG activated before installing those updates.
