I get around 15mbps of LTE in pittsburgh. Pretty good, since it's not on at&t's map coverage (definitely faster than 3g). With so many 4g phones networks are gonna triple there coverage area's within a year.

AT&T actually has better LTE coverage in my area of South Florida than Verizon does, surprisingly. I put a little star on the maps where I live, and it's in the Verizon "LTE Extended" area which basically means, you might get LTE, you might not. Verizon just covered the coast with LTE, not really the inland suburbs where I live. AT&T coated the whole area so I appreciate that.

Not yet... have "faux-G" (HSPA+ or whatever), but we are on the list to get LTE by year's end here in Knoxville, TN. Verizon has LTE but their 3G is much slower than AT&T's HSPA+ so I figured it was better to wait it out with AT&T.

Where is this list you speak of?

We don't have it in Fresno, CA yet. Just HSPA+

It looks like my area has 4G LTE from both Verizon and AT&T, but the Verizon stretches further away.

i had sprint and a 4s but when i went off to college the sprint service barley had 3g and droped half of my calls so i was able to end my contract without an ETF as long as i gave them my iPhone. so i did that, switched to verizon who has lte in my home town and my college town and i preordered the iphone 5 and i was one of the first so ill get it on the 21st. my phone experience should be 100x better with my ip5

I live in NYC, and frequent Baltimore often, glad to be switching to their LTE network, and hope it isn't as congested as their HSPA+ network.
I know the basics about network technologies, but was wondering, since LTE uses different spectrum, is the particular frequency it operates on better or worse for building penetration?

So you paid the iPhone 4S as your ETF? You made a good deal so long as it was only 16 GB.

it was 32, i could of paid the fee and sold it making maybe $50 but my mom didnt want to deal with it and we have a family plan that she pays so i just traded it.

Burlington, VT - Verizon has had LTE here for a while, but AT&T does not and I'm not sure what their plans are (I'm getting an AT&T 5). They do not hold any iPhone compatible LTE spectrum in this area, but I would not be shocked if they licensed it from the local telco that owns it (which is using it to do rural wireless broadband, but not in my area, as I live in the only populated part of the state). We will see. I'm not too concerned as I have an LTE MiFi through Verizon also.

If you're interested in this sort of thing, check out the spectrum viewer at http://reboot.fcc.gov. It will show you what companies hold spectrum in your area, so you can see if AT&T has the spectrum needed to deploy LTE. Verizon had nationwide 700 Mhz licenses, so no worries there.

No way, not in Orono Maine. Maybe someday because the largest college in Maine is right across the street from me
