God I hope not. This would confuse the hell out of customers even more so than they already are. AT&T already has to refer to their LTE network as "True 4G" Instead of just 4G.

I heard it didn't, but AT&T wanted their version to when it is on HSPA+. I think it will come in a carrier update.

iOS isn't designed to display GPRS/EDGE/3G pictures from carrier update bundles, only carrier names. It would have to be in an iOS update.

O god... I hope AT&T doesn't pull that BS with apple.

Next time, they will ask apple to add AT&T logo on the hardware.

Greedy bastards.

It should show 4G if your within the "4G" coverage area. I believe that this was reported about a week back that apple and AT&T had formed an agreement to do this.

Here is a coverage map of AT&T's "4G" network:

Kinda B.S. if you ask me. I'll know its not really 4G, but 99% of the rest of the world won't. I imagine Verizon will start a lawsuit about false advertising or something.

The radio at 14.4 is considers HSPA+ according to Qualcomm. And HSPA+ can be considered 4G not to be confused with LTE.
