I keep my iPhone on vibrate all the time except if its needed for sound on a game I'm playing at times.

I feel like since texting is becoming a more primary source of communication people tend to keep their phones on vibrate more often just so they don't have to keep hearing their text tone over and over again whether it be at home or in a public place

I actually keep my phone usually on silence and no vibrate.

I just like to have the divice around me but not disturbing me in any way.

Ring tones and the sound of a phones vibrating irritates me. I find it very invasive.

Where's the 'neither' option?

If I'm in a public place, I have even more reason to keep my phone completely silent. That way, I'm not tempted to look at it and end up being rude or simply missing out on what's going on around me.

this.

i have mine on both to be able to hear it and feel it.

My idea was based off the Loud/Vibrate switch... so if you have it on both the switch would be up (not showing orange) meaning that its on loud and not just vibrate

99% of the time on vibrate.

If I'm in my house, I'll generally hear the phone vibrate even if it is in another room. If I'm out, then i'll feel it vibrate in my pocket.

Rarely i keep it on Loud before i go to sleep if I'm expecting a call in the morning.

This reminds me that ios6 needs profiles like my old Nokia back in the 80's did. I had it set to automatically no vibrate and low ring volume at 10:00pm for bedtime.

Silent for about 8 hours out of the day while i'm at work, then sound is switched back on.

Only time i may turn it off other than that is when i'm casually playing a game while watching tv and i don't care about the sound on the game.

My phone is on vibrate 8 hours each day while I'm at work. Most of the time when I get home, I forget to switch it to loud. Really the only time my phone isn't on vibrate is while I'm sleeping.

apple probably just got the license to do so.

they weren't the only ones who "heavenly patented it". others had similar ideas back then.

me thinks.

I work alone, so I don't use silent. The only time I use silent is at the library or museum perhaps.
